THE BABE BEHIND THE BOUTIQUE

My professional career started at a local television station based in my hometown. Being the ambitious person I am, I hustled my way in front of the camera as an Entertainment Reporter- my dream job. I loved it, but shortly the station shut down and I scrambled to find the next thing. I found a similar station, and basically got my old job back, but old is what it became. The routine became tiresome. I was working so hard to make someone else money, and although the job had perks, it wasn't my passion anymore.
At the same time, I met my son's father, and in that time I became engaged pregnant and married all too fast. Especially, when I viewed myself more of a career woman than mother. Now, looking back I wouldn't change a thing. My son is my best friend, but I definitely got lost in motherhood.
Hello!
As you may know, I'm Jax- owner of Brig Chic Boutique. Whether we met at a pop-up or we chatted in my store, my story didn't start here. This may be a shock, but I did not think I would grow up to be a boutique owner. I actually went to school to be a reporter for E! News. I guess you could say I had goals to do something big. Hindsight, it seems so obvious I am better suited owning a boutique, but of course the road to success is never a straight line. After high school, I always browsed Forever21's website. I did it so much I memorized their inventory. In college, I was always looking for ways to incorporate fashion in my studies. To be honest, I think the real reason I wanted to be on TV was to get my own stylist.

When I started Jax Boutique, I had no idea what I was doing. The idea was to sell clothes all online and occasionally do pop-up shop events. I seriously thought it would be cake, and all I was going to do was play with clothes all day. I was wrong. I had to learn how to build a website, take pictures in all the clothes, pack and ship the minimal orders I received, and still I had little to no sales. Let me tell you this, running an online boutique is so hard. I'll save you the long winded explanation, but next time you see me I'd be more than happy to chat about it. In an effort to save my own boutique and learn as much as I could, I also quit my insurance job, and became the general manager of Brig Chic Boutique.
I suffered from postpartum, and in an attempt to get back to the career-driven women I used to be, I got an easy job doing... insurance. I know, riveting right? It worked, the job had awesome benefits, and I made some great colleagues-turned-friends. Again, I worked really hard, and became the top selling agent in the office, and again I was working extremely hard to make someone else rich.
At the same time, I started the process of divorcing my husband. Side note: today my ex-husband and I are the best co-parents. However, the day we initiated the divorce process, I applied for an LLC. In February of 2022, started my own boutique Jax Boutique.

I took everything I learned from the news, insurance, and my own start-up boutique and brought it to Brig Chic. I put it all out there on social media, planned sip and shops, and ultimately put Brig Chic on the Brigantine map. Also might I add... I did this while working both boutiques. Doing pop-ups for Jax Boutique and running Brig Chic Boutique at the same time was not easy. So after some long thought... I proposed the idea to take over Brig Chic Boutique, and after months of negotiations. I am the proud owner of Brig Chic Boutique. Was my journey easy? Hell no! But, I believe everything I have been through was to prepare me for running my own boutique- all of the tears and backbreaking work has made me love what I do so much more.
Thank you for supporting my small business, and I hope you continue to watch me grow.
